Racing Pilgrims

28 Jul

Jeannette thoughtfully gave my oldest a copy of this book to borrow and read on our summer vacation.  Wasn’t that nice of her?  This child of mine began Little Pilgrim’s Progress  by Helen L. Taylor yesterday.  She mentioned the “funny” character names.  We had a brief discussion about whether Christian was married or not. (He’s a child in this version).  At one point she came downstairs and asked if I’d gotten to the part where the characters are chained up.  When I seemed confused, she refused to talk about it any more, not wanting to “give” anything away.  At breakfast she reported that she had finished the book last night.  Her copy has 93 chapters and 256 pages.  Here I am stuck on the PP treadmill.  Reading, yet not gaining much ground.  Perhaps when we leave for our long journey west, I’ll be motivated to make great strides in Pilgrim’s Progress.  Hope I won’t need a GPS to find the Celestial City.

Would she like to borrow the children’s version of DQ next? Then she and Jer can start their own book club.
