Classics to Movies – Take Two (asprin, and call me in the morning)

22 Oct

A the winner of the Worst Movie Using a Stolen Book Title goes to . . .

Gulliver’s Travels with Jack Black

Not just bad. Really, really, awful.

Next Friday night my husband and I are going back to taking Accelerated Reading quizzes.

Did you really watch it? Did you expose the children to it? Remember when they watched an extended preview of it on Survivor as their reward. Not a reward, huh?

Oh, it truly was awful – didn’t I warn you, Christina? David and I watched about 40 minutes and I quit.

We really did watch almost all of it. There was one spot, the castle peeing where the DVD skipped – whew! and another scene where Jer got fed up and skipped to the next scene. Mostly out of boredom.

    We spared our offspring.

If you subtract all the comments about how rotten, awful, off-base, miserable, terribly acted, and painful the movie was, the remainder of our conversation was entirely about how we were so glad we weren’t one of the Survivors to get this as our “reward,” and if we had been, whether or not we would be capable of lying about it’s greatness for the sponsors and producers. Now there’s an ethical Survivor dilemma.
