Superfluous Sperm Whale “Spoutings” or Whale Facts I Simply Did Not Need to Know

17 Apr

I may just post several of these random facts discovered while perusing the large middle section of Moby Dick.   This section was sandwiched in between a very interesting beginning and an action-packed ending.   Melville goes through the sperm whale, bit by bit, enlightening us on numerous procedures of whaling and parts of sperm whales.   We become “experts” along the way.   However, there are a few things I really did not need to know.  Ever.   For example, did you know that whale milk is delicious with strawberries?    There you have it.

Feel free to add random whale facts you found superfluous, fellow reader.   By the way, superfluous is just a fun word to say!

Porpoise-meat balls, well-seasoned and rolled to about the size of billiard balls could be taken for turtle balls or veal balls.
