First in Safety

28 Apr

Just because you’re a monomaniac about safety, and think it’s irresponsible to keep skrimshandering under the efflugences of corpusants doesn’t mean you’ve undergone metempsychosis and are now channeling Starbuck, you might just be a primogeniture.

Here are the words you need to craft your own sentence.  Go!
corpusants
effulgences
metempsychosis
primogenitures
skrimshandering
monomaniac

The assignment is a sentence, but I’ve written some very lame poetry. Is that OK?

You are just bound and determined to challenge us with your poetry! Well fine – bring it on! 🙂

Vocabulary challenges such as this bring on effulgences and force me to wrack my brain to come up with responses in speedy form as though I were being chased by corpusants, and although I sometimes wish that I could sit around skrimshandering, my primogeniture status will not allow it, not in this lifetime or even in another, for I fear even if metempsychosis were a reality, I would still be a linguistic monomaniac.

Nicely done. Bonus points for the simile – I don’t ever want to be chased by corpusants.

“Musings of a Linguistic Monomaniac” would make a great blog name.

(Still working up courage to post my poetry. It’s very, very lame.)

A STRANGE NIGHT ON THE PEQUOD

      WHITE WHALE

      Corpusants cast from the yard-arms

      Effulgences onto the sea,

      As that monomaniac, Ahab,

      Sought to annihilate me.

      ISHMAEL

      Under the Parsee’s hypnosis,

      I dreamed of metemphsychosis:

I came back to life as the unlucky wife

      Of a peg-legged lout with a neurosis.

      STARBUCK

      Not one for philandering,

      I took to skrimshandering,

      And formed in striking miniature

      My precious primogeniture.

        *standing ovation*

        My favorite is Starbuck’s.

Sorry, Adriana – that’s not lame at all!

Christina you have such a great sense of fun.

It takes REAL talent to put all of the words into one sentence. That is something I haven’t been able to do yet.
