I started chapter 5 last night. I just met Eustasia. I had a terrible time with pace in the first two chapters, but now I am more engaged. The post about polygons helped (and interested) me in what is up next.

I am reading this on a Nook. Usually for “lighter” novels, this works fine for me. I am finding, however, I am frustrated a out looking ahead when I see where others are in the books to see how far behind or to help place their comments in context. I may have to pick up a library copy as well.

I am thankful for the companionship of this group.

The first book I read on kindle was Uncle Tom’s Cabin, and I didn’t have a paper copy with which to compare. That was rough–but at least the free kindle version had page numbers and I could look at the table of contents and see how long the chapter was. For Mme Bovary, I read it on kindle with a paper version next to me: comparing–moving my bookmark, etc. For me it just took a while getting used to the ereader. I had been taking notes in my paper copies and now I’m highlighting things. (true confession… I may “touch” a word in a paper copy to find its definition.) I’m confident that you’ll find your groove and what works for you.

Into Part V – what a cat fight between daughter and mother- in – law! Pace has really picked up.
Discovered that my daughter Lisa took a class on Thomas Hardy at GVSU with just 5 other male students. The professor did his dissertation on Hardy!
( I must confess that I have a cold and so have been “resting and reading”

I agree, April – the first two or three were the worst. I’m on Book 3, Chapter 5.

I just finished Book Fourth, but have not ventured into Book Fifth, yet. I played hooky all last week and didn’t read, so I have fallen behind.

Hooky is nice. I’m reading quickly so I can play it before Christmas.

I finished Chapter I of Book Third way too late last night. A pattern I just keep repeating, and repeating, and repeating. It’s a good thing the reading has gotten a bit more interesting, or I’d never make it.

Just finished Book 3, chapter 3 today. The beginning was a bit rough but I’m finding my reading groove now.
