Where? Who?

04 Feb

Let’s make this check-in a speedy one.  I’ve got reading to do, people!  Folks are finishing left and right, and here I am on chapter XXXVIII.

So… for this week’s check in, please share where you are in the novel and who is your favorite character.

I’m having a hard time getting into the book…I’m on chapter 28. I will stick with it though, since everyone is saying it gets faster! I think my favorite character so far is Ralph, because he is so amiable. He would be a pleasant person to spend time with!

I have survived The Portrait, and it does get better after chapter 40ish. I have to say that naturally, Ralph was the easy one to like. But I also want to add that since I started off not liking Henrietta, I pleasantly saw a different side to her after the 40ish chapter. I don’t want to give it away, but I really came to like her very much for what she did. She was a good woman and a good friend after all.

I’m finished. Of course I liked Ralph best too, and then Henrietta. I want to like Lord Whatsisname, but he never seems to have much personality. I don’t get Pansy at all and wish someone would explain to me about her. Did James just not know any teenage girls?

Jerry and I are both at Chapter XLII. (We’ve been listening to audio book in the evenings. I highly recommend it as a painless alternative.) My favorite character is the poor, dead Daniel Touchett.

Chapter 45…still trying to name a favorite, although like you guys all said – it is getting faster. I had a big family weekend and haven’t picked it up for 4 days. Time to get back to it.
